The SMU Urban Institute is pleased to announce two exciting opportunities in May 2025, in collaboration with the SMU College of Graduate Research Studies @ SMU PhD:
đź“š Singapore Rising Scholars Conference: Join us on 15-16 May 2025 for a platform designed to showcase your research and connect with peers and experts in your field. Present your work, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and expand your academic network.
🎓 Rising Scholars Fellowship Programme: Running from 12-16 May 2025, this immersive programme is perfect for advanced undergraduate students considering a Master’s or PhD, or Master’s students planning to pursue a PhD. Fellows receive an award of S$2,000 to offset travel and accommodation expenses.
We are working to introduce a dedicated Urban Track at the conference and an Urban Immersion experience for the Fellowship programme, funding up to 5 Fellowship places (S$2,000 each) for urban-focused scholars from Southeast Asia and offer up to 12 travel awards (up to $800 each) for those presenting urban-themed research at the conference.
📢 By submitting your application, eligible applicants would automatically be considered - no separate application is required.
📢 For the Fellowship, in the statement of purpose please specify that you are applying for the “urban track”. For the conference, we will identify eligible students based on the title and abstracts of the presentations.
